CANCER- Chairman: Norma J. Canfield (198, 19); Co-Chairman: Dorothy B. Brouse (159, 9A) The duty of this committee is to educate our members about this dreaded disease, as well as to encourage them to participate in programs for check -up and self-examinations; to motivate our members; to be active in their committees and to volunteer for the American Cancer Society CANCER AND SHARING- Chairman: Nancy F. Shick (459, 14); Eastern Chairman, Judy Yorty (115, 15B); Central Chairman, Jean I. Kensinger, (471, 9A); Western Chairman, Cathy L. Melville, (349, 7) The duties of this committee are many but rewarding. Caring and Sharing supports our Fraternal Fund and aids in assisting those of our members in need. Thrree Sectional Bazaars/Luncheons are held throughout the State and we are encouraged to promote these events and urge our members to attend. The schedule is as follows: Eastern - October 7, 2006, Central - September 16, 2006; Western - March 24, 2007
32ND DEGREE MASONIC LEARNING CENTERS FOR CHILDREN WITH DYSLEXIA Chairman: Thomas C. Keen, (444,15B); Eastern Section Chairman, Joseph A. Sbaraglia, Jr. (13, 27); Central Section Chairman, Larry T. Greathouse, (499, 16C); John H. Crilley, (180, 2) This is the Special Project of the Worthy Grand Matron. Funds raised this year will be divided among the 12 Learning Centers in Pennsylvania.
FRATERNAL RELATIONS Chairman: Monte L. Foor (169, 16D); Co- Chairman: John G. Myers (290, 9A) This committee is requested by the Most Worthy Grand Matron. It's purpose is to promote and increase the interaction between our Fraternal Organizations. The activity this year was the "Great Fraternal Family" Picnic at Kennywood Park on July 23, 2006.
GOLDEN STARS Chairman: Laverne E. Penn (471, 9A); Co-Chairman: Mary C. Thomas (290, 9A) The duty of this committee is to acquire the names of our 50 year members from the Chapter Secretaries and to hod a special District event in their honor. Assistance with arrangements for Grand Chapter should be given to any of our Golden Stars who wish to attend the Luncheon to be held in Pittsburgh 2007.
HOMES Chairman: Carol E. Hassinger (425, 15A); Eastern Section Chairman:Barbara A. Bernecker, (64, 25A); Central Section Chairman: Carol L. Weiser, (392, 14); Western Section Chairman: Kathy A. Henkel, (439, 26C) The duty of this committee is to make the Festivals as inviting and entertaining as possible. It's at this time that we visit our Masonic Villages and enjoy meeting and greeting the residents. District activities at the Villages are not limited to the Festivals. The three Homes Festival Dates are as follows: Eastern Home (Lafayette Village- March 3, 2007 Warminster "Special Visit" -May 11, 2007 Central Homes (Elizabethtown) - March 10, 2007 Western Homes (Sewickley) - October 14, 2006 H INTERNATIONAL TEMPLE Chairman: Ruth A. Ross (288, 9A); Co-Chairman: Linda Barton (161, 9B) The duties of this committee are to educate and enlighten our members about the history and beauty of this magnificent building and to promote visits/tours from the Districts. Overnight trips are great for sightseeing, concerts and dinner.
KEEPSAKES Chairman: Patricia McCaulley (64, 25A); Eastern Chairman: Holly J. Higgins (390, 15B); Central Chairman: Marianne S. Hoffman (519, 14); Western Chairman: Blanche Elaine Baker (35, 26A) The duty of this committee is to promote the sale of the many items selected by the WGM and WGP. Proceeds from the sale of these souvenirs help defray the cost of the 113th Session in Pittsburgh 2007.
MEMBERSHIP Chairman: Loretta McAlpine (435, 7); Co-Chairman: Kay D. Fleming (207,9A) We are more than about members. Yes, membership is important to the future of our Order, but it is equally important not to forget our current members. This committee is charged with the duty of encouraging our members to provide transportation not only to meetings but social events as well, sending thinking-of-you cards or making telephone calls to those members who have not been attending on a regular basis.
"STEAMIN' AHEAD" IN THE FIGHT AGAINST MS Chairman: Mary Frances Jaymes (549, 9A); Eastern Chairman: J. Lynn Bailey, (323, 25A); Central Chairman: Shirley A. Warren, (452, 12); Western Chairman: Carol A. Weaver, (267, 4A) The duty of this committee is to sell a steam engine pin, the proceeds benefiting our outreach project in Pennsylvania and to educate our membership about this debilitating disease.
NOTEWORTHY NEWS Chairman: Kathleen M. Shaffer (479, 14); Co-chairman: Susan K. Mummert, (342, 14) The duty of this committee is to gather, compile and submit articles and photos for our newspaper which is shared quarterly with our members. What better way to keep the membership informed of all the great things happening within our Order.
PEACEMAKERS It is the desire of the WGM and WGP to promote peace, harmony and Star Love among our Sisters and Brothers. These special Sisters and Brothers already chosen have the responsibility of doing just that.......by living peacefully, by reminding our members of the Obligation that was taken at the sacred Altar........"Not to speak evil of a Sister or Brother or do any unkindness to them; to cherish and defend the reputation of all members" and most of all to remind us to live by the Golden Rule. It is the responsibility of each one of us to be peacemakers. We cannot expect our Order to grow and prosper if there is constant turmoil in our ranks.
STAMPS Chairman: C. Patricia Adams (422, 16C); Eastern Section: Doris M. Faulds, (202, 24); Central Section: Carol Ann B. Close, (121,9A); Western Section: Geraldine C. Pricer (69,7) The duty of this committee is to continue cutting and saving stamps. Proceeds from the redemption of the cancelled stamps will be used to assist the Fraternal Fund in its efforts to aid the many Sisters and Brothers in need. Members are encouraged to buy and use commemorative stamps.
VETERANS OUTREACH The duty of this committee is to encourage Chapters and Districts to continue reaching out to our veterans with visits, cards and providing them with needed personal items.
YOUTH General Chairman: Betty Kay Fluke (161,9B); Eastern Chairman, MariAnne J. Kapenstein, (380, 15A); Central Chairman, Judith A. Walsh,(183, 9B); Western Chairman, Janet L. Maier, (356, 26C); Rainbow Liaison, Yvonne H. Neigh, (45, 4B); Job's Daughters Liaison, David D. Kidd, (69, 7); DeMolay Liaison, Mark L. Brockett (22, 1) What a vital link in our Organization! The duty of this committee is to support the yout of Rainbow, Job's Daughters and DeMolay not only by sending financial support, but also by attending their meetings, initiations/installations and other social events. Our members are to be educated about the Educational Scholarships &ESTARL Committee and how it provides at Grand Chapter, thousands of dollars in scholarships for our youth.
