PENNSYLVANIA GRAND CHAPTER COMMITTEES HOMES This committee conducts Homes Festivals and special events for our members who are residents at the Masonic Villages. FESTIVAL DATES AND LOCATIONS
"APPLAUD OUR YOUTH" It is the goal of this committee to raise funds to support the purpose of the Educational Scholarship and ESTARL Fund. Collecting clean, used aluminum foil, pie pans, old ports and pans, cookie sheets, cans, aluminum siding and appliances are a few examples of recyclable items that create a monetary return.
CANCER Through continued awareness and donations that fund research, the cure will be found. You can show your support by wearing the OES Pink Ribbon Pin this Committee will offer with proceeds to benefit Cancer Research.
CARING & SHARING The purpose of this Committee is two-fold. It is designed to educate our members regarding the mission of the Fraternal Fund and to provide aid to our Sisters and Brothers in need. There will be three Sectional Bazaar and Luncheon events across the state. BAZAAR & LUNCHEON DATES & LOCATIONS
"GIVE A LITTLE WHISTLE" The WGM's Special Project is Asthma Awareness to help aid in the research for a cure. Asthma is a chronic lung disease that effects the airways that carry air in and out of your lungs. The sale of keychain whistles will be this committee's project to raise funds and help promote awareness of this disease.
GOLDEN STARS Fifty year members are honored at the Golden Star Luncheon held at Grand Chapter in York. These special members are honored in a Chapter meeting as well and the Regional Appointment will want to recognize these distinguished members at a luncheon. These Sisters have wonderful stories and memories to share. They are a precious resource and we can glean so much from their experiences.
"GOOD VIBRATIONS" Our newspaper will be named "Good Vibrations", a wonderful instrument, tuned to let everyone know what's happening where, and what's coming up when. Chapter Representatives send articles and photos to the Regional Appointment who is responsible for compiling and submitting them to the editor
"HI NEIGHBOR" This is our community outreach committee. Chapter members are urged to be active volunteers in their community. The following are some suggestions: Beautify an unsightly area in town with flowers; if you enjoy reading, volunteer at your local library, adopt a bookshelf to keep in order or read to a group of youngsters during Story Hour; Meals on Wheels program; Church soup kitchens; School nurses are always looking for socks, underwear, gloves & hats when the weather turns cold or mishaps occur on the playground; animal shelters need food, blankets and supplies; many organizations collect Campbell soup labels. Place articles and pictures in your local newspaper- the visible recognition of our charitable deeds should not go unnoticed.
"MARCHING FOR MS" The Grand Chapter of PA adopted the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as its Outreach Project. There have been remarkable strides in the research to better treat and cure this unpredictable disease of the brain and spinal cord. Wear the pink flamingo pin this committee is selling to exhibit our support as we continue "Marching for MS"
STAMPS This is indeed a special committee that requires "patient industry". This committee collects cancelled stamps from envelopes and post cards. Thos cancelled stamps are sold to a stamp buyer; the funds received go directly to the Fraternal Fund to help a Sister or Brother in need. Foreign stamps and stamp collections have the highest values. Stamps are to be trimmed (1/4" Margin on all sides), sorted into various categories, weighed and placed into bags, sent to Regional Appointment, then to Sectional Chairman and then to General Chairman for delivery to our buyer.
"WE ARE FAMILY" This committee is designed to keep Membership & Youth on track. We could not exist if it were not for our Masonic affiliation. Our membership encompasses men and women of all ages, from every walk of life, who are bound by the same principles and beliefs. Interaction among fraternal organizations through picnics and dinners is just one opportunity to create family fellowship. Start a bowling team; sponsor a Rainbow Assembly; become a "big sister", ask Youth organizations to serve your dinners (they require a service project too). |
